The NEISH FAMILY of Affleck, Monikie Parish, and other parts.

UPDATED  OCTOBER  2011

The webmaster wishes to advise readers that a large, glass-encased, family tree / chart can be seen on the wall at the Research Centre of the Tay Valley Family History Society.  The document is on long term loan to the society and is about 3 feet wide by 2 feet deep, and it is not possible to copy it, other than manually.  The letter / font size can be very small in order to facilitate the inclusion of approximately 75 'primary' names, together variously showing spouse, occupation and or title, address, death & burial and other information.  The earliest entry relates to 1654 and the latest to 1911, the year the chart was printed (i.e. not hand-written).

Should you wish to see this chart you should contact TVFHS in the first instance and make suitable prior arrangements to copy the contents by hand - photography is not an option.  Non-members will be charged an attendance fee.  Please do NOT ask for a copy to be sent to you - sorry.

The following inscription is to be found on the document.

Genealogical Chart of certain branches of the
NEISH FAMILY
prepared by G. W. Neish, Affleck, Monikie, in October 1911.

from Notes and Memoranda in the possession of his cousin, William Neish of Laws and Omachie, Kingennie, Dundee, and given to G. W. Neish by Miss Jane Wilson Neish after the death of said William Neish.

Verified and extended by independent research and enquiry.

In October 2011 the Webmaster was been presented with a copy of the "family tree" relating to the Neish family. This contains over 100 individuals and dates back to the fifteenth century. The Webmaster is unable to give added information other than available on this page or from the file that has been presented to him. The following linked file is in GEDCOM format and, in order to examine it, you will need a specialist Family History software application installed on your computer. You can obtain FREE Family History software (Personal Ancestral File - PAF) from the Mormon Church Website at https://www.familysearch.org/products  taking care to choose the correct OS version (Windows, Mac, etc). A search for GEDCOM with Google (or other search engine) you will find lots of information.

DOWNLOAD NEISH FAMILY HISTORY GEDCOM FILE

(You may not be aware that a GEDCOM file is a TEXT file and content can be viewed in a text or word processor, but such text will not provide the formatting you need which is only available from such free or commercial Family History applications which are widely available. The Mormon Church initiated the GEDCOM protocol many years ago and, although other software producers have used it, often adding their own 'bells & whistles', these extras may not interchangeable with other software.

Any thoughts - contact the Webmaster.
