A LIST OF BAILLIES, PROVOSTS & LORD PROVOSTS
OF THE BURGH OF DUNDEE, SCOTLAND

This table of information is extracted from the publication, "City of Dundee, Scotland, A Chronicle of the City's Office Bearers, Chambers, Regalia, Castles and Twin Cities". The purpose of making this table available here was for the benefit of readers simply looking for the information contained therein. The full booklet may be obtained from The City Chambers, City Square, Dundee, Scotland,  but (a previous edition) can also be seen in PDF format online at www.dundeecity.gov.uk/publications/heraldic.pdf
Readers should appreciate the effort expended by council staff and others to extract the information in this list from many old documents held at Dundee City Archives.

LIST OF BAILLIES, PROVOSTS & LORD PROVOSTS OF THE BURGH OF DUNDEE
The minutes of the Town Council of Dundee which are still in existence do not bear an earlier date than 1552, but as the names of Provosts and Baillies were usually entered in the 'Lockit-Book' over every name of an admitted Burgess, it is thus possible to form a more complete historical list of Office Holders for the City. Where dates before 1482 omit any mention of a Provost, the name of the Principal Baillie has been listed.
