Hello, Thank you for your e-mail. Driver 76745 James Hagan, 38th Battery Royal Field Artillery killed in action 20-09-1901 at Quaggafontein. Quaggafontein is a farm in the Orange Free State 23km south-east of Zastron. A camp here was overrun by a commando led by Chief-Commandant PH Kritzinger. Fourty-eight British soldiers were killed, mostly of Lovett's Scouts. The 38th Battery lost 7 killed and 5 wounded. You may be able to get a photograph of his grave by writing to jean.beater @ nationalmonuments.co.za He (your ancestor) is listed on the Royal Artillery Memorial in Hyde Park, London.
